Vince Weber was born on 26th October, 1953 in Hamburg, West Germany and started taking piano lessons aged ten,. His sister introduced him to the blues by giving him records of Lightnin’ Hopkins, Michael Pewny, Champion Jack Dupree and Taj Mahal to name a few. By the time he turned sixteen he was playing in bars in the harbour of his home-town, where he met the comedian Otto Waalkes, who booked him as opener for his then-current tour. In 1975 he released his first album ‘The Boogie Man’. This album was partly recorded in ‘Fabrik’, where he had a regular gig once a month since 1976. In 1978 he travelled to the United States for the first time, becoming a DJ at the local NDR radio station, where he hosted a weekly Blues broadcast.
Vince Weber had played at festivals and clubs all over Germany, with other musicians like Axel Zwingenberger and Champion Jack Dupree, and produced a number of albums over his career, no doubt being an influence on many of the younger generation players.
In later years, Vince Weber reduced his live performances due to his health, and he past away on 23rd of February, 2020, at the age of sixty-six.
