Mitch was was born 3rd April, 1951 in Brooklyn, New york. Originally he was a student of jazz and classical music but on moving to the West Coast he started to playing rhythm and blues and played through the 70’s as a solo artist. In 1984 the debut album ‘Steady Date’ was released by ‘Blind Pig’ with the band ‘Mitch Woods & His Rocket 88s’, which led to a national tour and several European dates and quite a number of albums have following on.
In 2007, Mitch Woods was nominated for the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year Award at the blues festival in Memphis, Tennessee.
